NYC Navigator Sunset Sail - segeln in den Sonnenuntergang [bilingual post]

NYC Navigator hat mich letzten Freitag zur jaehrlichen Sunset Segeltour eingeladen. NYC Navigator ist eine Firma, die auslaendische Firmen oder Privatpersonen beim Umzug nach NYC unterstuetzt und hilft, den Uebergang sowohl angenehmer als auch auch kosteneffektiv zu gestalten.

Marina

Der Tag war strahlend klar, ein bisschen herbstlich kuehl - und windig. Als ich das Boot in der Marina am World Financial Center im Wasser liegen - nein: schwanken - sah, hatte ich doch Bedenken, ob dieser Trip eine gute Idee war.

 

Es war eine excellente Idee. Im freien Gewaesser war das Schlingern kaum spuerbar. Die Crew reichte Getraenke und leckere Haeppchen, es gab gute Musik und eine atemberaubende Aussicht auf den Sonnenuntergang,spaeter auf die erleuchtete Skyline von Lower Manhattan und die Freiheitsstatue. Nette Leute, die Stimmung war klasse - die Bootstour war ein voller Erfolg. Nach fast 3 Stunden lief das Boot unter den Klaengen von Frank Sinatras "New York, New York" wieder in den Hafen ein, mit Blick auf das hell erleuchtete World Trade Center.

Und - es gelang mir tatsaechlich, trotz des schwankenden Untergrundes ein paar vorzeigbare Fotos zu schiessen - auch wenn die Ausschussrate dieses Mal unverhaeltnismaessig hoch war. Aber seht selbst.

Ich denke, die Segeltour ist eine fantastische Idee, Neuankoemmlingen die Stadt einmal von einer anderen Seite zu zeigen und ihnen zu helfen, NYC schaetzen zu lernen. Danke an Brenda Lewis und ihr Team!

 

NYC Navigator invited me to join their yearly Sunset Sail Trip which took place last Friday. NYC Navigator is a company that provides companies and individuals with relocation solutions to make the transition to New York as smooth and cost-effective as possible.

 



 

The day was bright and sunny, although you already could smell the fall in the air. And - it was quite windy. When I saw the boat laying - no: rocking - in the marina next to the World Financial Center, I wasn't sure if this trip was a good idea.

It was an excellent idea. In the open water, the rocking of the boat was almost not to recognize. The crew handed drinks and delicious finger food, great music was playing. We had an absolutely stunning view at the sunset and later the enlightened skyline of lower Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty. The people on the boat turned out to be a funny group, it was an evening full of laughter and joy. The boat tour was a huge success. After almost three hours, the boat returned to the marina, the crew playing Frank Sinatra's "New York, New York" with a breathtaking view on the enlightened World Trade Center.

 

Surprisingly, I was able to get some decent shots, despite the fact that I was standing on moving ground. I have to admit though that the reject rate of my pictures was unusual high this time.

 

I believe the Sail Tour is a marvelous idea to show Newcomers NYC from a different point of view and help them to appreciate even more what NYC has to offer. Thank you, Brenda Lewis and Team!
